can systemic/all body RSD be caused by nerve compression

Hi
I have recently been diagnosed clinically with a radial nerve compression at both elbows despite the fact that it's not visible in an EMG.In the meantime strange things started happenig in different parts of the body, such as numbness in my nose, little wounds in my genitals, etc. My blood tests / brain scans show everything is alright (no Aids, MS, etc.)
This resembles very much RSD. This strange symptoms increase if I insist on doing tasks that make my compression worse (typing, etc)

I please beg you to answer me this: Can a nerve compression, even slight, cause a systemic RSD?

If this is so, then, RSD could be in fact a nerve compression syndrome, after all, which would be great news for everyone.

Thanks
AC

nerve entrapment and RSD - looking for answers

Hi guys

Just some questions:

Can a nerve entrapment affect adjacent nerves?

Also, when I apply ice in the sensitive branch of the radial nerve, which cannot be tested in an EMG (correct me if I'm wrong) my neuropathic pain decreases a lot. Is this consistent with RSD?

Do you know if there's ablood test being developed to detect neuroinflammation?

Thanks a lot
AC

I can't answer your questions b/c I don't have that knowledge but I do know one thing- IF you have rsd, icing the area is one of the worst things you can do for it. Ice can actually contribute to the development of rsd and its spread.

Good luck.

I have heard of folks who showed all signs of RSD but in fact had trapped nerves instead. One was a member of this site some time ago. She had her nerve released and all symptoms vanished. Interesting that you mentioned that an emg will not detect a trapped radial nerve. My wife who has RSD has had several EMGs with no trapped nerve, however, her symptoms developed from a broken wrist.

neurography (imaging for nerve entrapment)

When you say that "She had her nerve released and all symptoms vanished. " What kind of symptoms did she have?
Were they systemic? Did she have symptoms in other parts of the body?
Can you give me the link of her posts?

From what I read about EMGs they cannot detect every nerve entrapment specially the ones related to the radial nerve. It' impossible to see if specifically the sensory branch of the radial nerve is entraped.

This is what I believe I have. Unfortunately where I live ther's no neurography nor ultrasonography of peripheral nerves. Can anyone give me feedback of these exams?

What's weird about my condition is that my entrapment syndrome is sometimes affecting other parts of my body.

Maybe RSD is after all a response of our body against a nerve entrapment. The difficulty is finding the exact spot of that entrapment.

Have you been tested for Reiter's syndrome?

Systemic inflammation with joint involvement, and genital sores (which you state in your first post), can be signs of this.

acsalvador, It's been so long ago, I can not remember the member's name in order to do a search. I recall her having many of RSD symptoms, loss of hair, shiny skin, swelling, spread, sensitive to touch etc. Her trapped nerve was in her ankle-foot area. I'll try to recall more details. But this member wasn't the only story I've heard where trap nerves mimicked RSD. Also, keep in mind, many with RSD do not show every sign of the disease.

Here is a link to a member who was diagnosed with crps but had nerve entrapment in her ankle. Her symptoms resolved with surgery to relieve the entrapment. It appears she was wondering if she also had crps in addition to the entrapment. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...rve+entrapment

John Sarno and peripheral neuropathy

Hi there

Do you know what is the position of Dr. Sarno on peripheral neuropathy/ nerve inflammation?

Can ischemic/ oxygen deprivation also cause inflammation?

Is this consistent with John Sarno's approach?

Finally, can a nerve compression cause inflammation in adjacent nerves?

Thank you so much
Take care,
AC

cubital tunnel syndrome surgery - advice needed!!!

Hello

Despite the EMG being normal, I was diagnosed with cubital tunnel syndrome, after an ecography. My ulnar nerve is mildly pinched at the elbow. I have had this problem for 3 years so, I'm considering surgery, since I can't bend my elbow nor perform my work.
I would like to ask you for some advice:

- statistically speaking what is the outcome of decompression surgery?
-why don't sometimes people get full recovery? Is it because surgery is a sort of placebo as Dr. Sarno/TMS theory states or is it because nerves don't fully recover?
-Can a pinched nerve compress other adjacent nerves? I think my radial nerve is also affected.
-Is there any drug under development that somehow reinforces myelin sheets so that nerves can handle compression better?

Thanks a lotfor your help,
Ac
