We have just been told our daughter may have a neurological disorder
We noticed about 18 months ago that our 14 year old daughter has been walking with her left foot turned in slightly. She is not clumsy, does not trip over easily and is 'sporty' - plays fottball, etc.
We also have recently noticed that her little finger is naturally curved in towards her palm, although she can straighten it with effort. Her left thumb is beginning to curl in also. We took her to an orthopaedic paediatrician today and he asked her to do various clenches, stretches with her hands and feet. He said she appears to have a weakness on her left side. He feels it is more of a neurological disorder and not a physical problem, and has referred her to a Neurologist. Obviously we are very worried now and need to have an agonising wait to see the specialist. Would anyone on here recognise these symptoms and be able to reassure us in any way. Thank you, Pat Mahoney |
Hello Pat and Welcome to NeuroTalk.
I have no idea what could be wrong with your daughter. I am sorry, it's so difficult when it's our children. You and your daughter will be in my thoughts  |
Thanks for your concerns. [Just to let you know - we saw a neurologist today and he said he does not think it is anything serious. Thank God.:):):)

So pleased that your medical review was positive.

Your daughter
I have learned long ago not to react when a doctor says something may be wrong and this is what he thinks...
However, I would keep a diary of these issues. I recognize the symptoms. Observe your daughter. If things don't improve, go to another specialist and go until you get answers. |
