Concussion Symptoms Still?

I am brand new to this site, so forgive me...I'm not sure if this is the right area to pose my question.

Anyhow, I hit my head pretty hard about 6 nights ago. Two days after, I went to see my doctor. She opted not to run a CT scan based on the fact that I seemed fairly normal. Now, several days later, I am still dizzy off and on, and feel pressure (not like a headache, just like my brain expanding -- hopefully that makes sense to someone) in my head. If you were me, would you go to the ER or back to the doc to request a CT to be sure your skull wasn't fracture or that you weren't swelling or bleeding -- I am a constant worrier...

(side note, this is my second concussion. The first was much worse).

Thanks in advance :)

jmayhill,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear you bumped your head.

What you describe sounds normal. You are extremely early in your recovery. You have a good chance of a spontaneous recovery. Try to relax and get quiet rest.

You may want to read my Vitamin and Supplement Regimen thread to learn how to enhance your brain's ability to recover.

How bad was your previous concussion ? How long ago was it ? How long did it take you recover from that concussion ?

Thanks, Mark. That makes me feel better. Yesterday, I felt great. Today, back to work and by the end of the day, not so great - dizzy and the weird pressure in my head.

As far as the first concussion goes, it recieved a grade 1 rating. I hit my head on the ground playing co-Ed flag football about four years ago. They did a CT scan that day, and it was negative. I recall at least three days of extreme pain, couldn't lay on my head, dizziness, headaches,exhaustion...this time around mostly just dizziness and two mild headaches in 6 days.

I will definitely check out the vitamin regimine you suggest. Thank you again :)

Disregard the Grade 1 rating of your other concussion. The specialists know that the Grading system did not have any meaning on the intensity of the injury.

I suggest that as soon as you start to feel any symptoms at work, try to take some time for quiet in a dark room. It does not help to push through concussion symptoms. It is far better to use them as a signal to stop and rest. You will recover faster if you do not try to push through.

My best to you.
