Lisinopril

A month ago on a Sunday morning my husband went to the emergency room with what he thought was sky-high blood pressure. It turned out to be a rhythm problem, and the doctor on call gave him Lisinopril and advised him to see the cardiologist the next day. He did that and the cardiologist left him on Lisinopril with instructions to return in a month.

Remembering Mrs. D’s experience with this drug, I looked it up on line and had him read all of the side effects. He wasn’t having any problems with it so he continued, but a couple of days ago he lost the hearing in one ear. I checked the drug sites again and didn’t see anything about hearing loss, but when I googled, “Lisinopril/hearing loss,” a bunch of sites came up where many others were experiencing hearing loss. Several people reported that their doctors assured them the Lisinopril was not the cause.

I know this isn’t a cardiac site, but wanted to add this side effect to the list in case anyone with high blood pressure was also having hearing problems.

P.S. My husband has now stopped taking it and will talk to his doctor in a few days when he goes in for his scheduled appointment.

I have a friend who last year went thru a heart issue and the ER etc...and came home with TOO MANY drugs one being Lisinopril, this drug caused her horrible coughing. Her issue she now realizes was a panic attack and the hospital kept her there for 5 days and sent her home with lots of drugs and afib dx....she is now working on many many new supps to get off these drugs....magnesium is critical for the heart and she wasn't taking enough for any for that matter. All this time with this HMO, medicare paid them over $100K for this panic attack....don't get me started.
