Out of pocket Chiari Surgery

I was just informed that my workers comp was not going to cover my chiari surgery, but POSSIBLY my syringomyelia. They've determined that the chiari was always there and the my work injury aggravated the syrinx in my spine. I'm so blown away with emotion and sadness that I can even take care of my children. Is it time for a Lawyer? Does anyone out there have any idea what chiari surgery costs and are there any grants/benefits that I can apply for? I need help in a desperate way. SOON!!

it may well be time for a lawyer....how are they proving that the chiari was alway there?...and what about your health insurance?....i can't even imagine the cost....we ARE talking about neurosurgery here....but the chiari needs to be treated at the same time to PREVENT recurrance of the syrinex....good grief, and good luck

First of all, like many, I do not have health insurance. 2nd. How DO you prove that the chiari wasnt always there. My work injury wasnt severely traumatic such as a horrible car accident. Its hard to say I guess. Insurance companies are EVIL.
