What meds can you take if anticonvultant hypersensitive?

I was diagonsed a few weeks ago & was put on Phenytoin aka Dilantin. A few days ago I broke out in a full body rash swollen lymph nodes & fever. I went to ER & got steroids & was told I cannot take these meds because I was one of the rare people to get hypersensitivity from it. Lucky me. Now my TN is back :(. Any advice?

Inquire about trying baclofen. Baclofen is a muscle relaxer which works for some of us. Klonopin is another med with anticonvulsant properties but isn't one. I'm not a doctor but I have experience using these meds. I also use ultram as it helps with the atypical pain I have but I don't find that it helps the classic lightening bolts any. But then it may and I just don't realize the difference because I can't go off of the med. Each time I've tried to, the atypical pain increased causing me to continue to stay a my given dose. I hope you find something that works for you. Post back and let us know how your doing.
