Mary's severe tremors
 

Hi My name is Joan : I have a 43 yr old daughter Mary , who is the mother of 5 children 3 grown and 2 children 13 and 11. She is separated and lives with 3 children the older one is just turned 18 a few days ago. for the past couple of years she has been shakey but this past year they are diagnosed as severe tremors on the left side to the point that her left leg goes out form under her occasionaly. These tremors come on without warning so she can no longer trust herself to cook. She has no car and is afraid to take a bus because of her leg going n her now and then. The last time she seen her doctor he said he will put her on a list to see a neurologist but it can take time cause she has public medical called the access card. She lioves in Moosic, pa and unfortunately i live in Nj but i dont drive and i am 71. I even wrote to congress and the president about help for her. Of course no response. She was turned down in jan for social security and she has worked all her life. They said she would hear form them with an appeal 20 days before it is due but stillhasnt heard and they kekep saying u have to wait. which is putting more stress on her and depression. How can we find a doctor who is a neurologist to at least check her out and offer some releif who will take her Access card. I am so worried about her. She can lift her coffee cup off the table with hot coffee cause u never know when a tremor will hit. Pls i would appreciate any help or advise. she has no computer just a phone.

SSDI required reports from birth my Neurologist and PCP (who knew I was applying and in full support of my decision) SSDI rejected mefirst time, I appealed having Doctor back-up and a diagnosis of MS (I was then "official) and I eventaully won SSDI and an amount for each child under 18. SSDI does take effort and time. Keep copies of everything!! They lost my file!!!

You do have reason to worry. Worry and stress is not good for us. Let us try to relieve some of that worry.

My tip would be to contact your and her US Congressperson. By letter, with her SS #, address, Date of Birth, diagnoses and your heartfelt concerns about your daughter's condition. Ask them to take a look into her social security claim, help her as much as they can, and keep her updated with what's going on with her claim.

In Kentucky we have our local state run health department. Call them for qualification quidelines for home health services, meals on wheels, or other services they may offer in your state and county. She may need a social worker on her case, but they also make recommendations to the court if they deem her incapable of caring for herself and her kids.

With your efforts, I'm sure she'll find the care she needs.

Hello, I am so sorry your daughter is having so much trouble. As far as SSI goes, your daughter really needs to hire a lawyer that specializes in SSI. I am speaking from experience. I appealed mine, and I just kept getting turned down. When I went to a lawyer I was accepted for SSI right away. You only pay a percentage when you get your SSI approved. It was well worth it, because without a lawyer your daughter will continue to be turned down. She needs to see a neurologist as soon as she can. I too have left sided tremors in my hand. There are many different things that can cause tremors--mine is dystonia. I live in Montgomery County--how far is that from your daughter?? Once your daughter recieves SSI she will have good health insurance. I go to John Hopkins for all my care, and they are wonderful---I wish you and your daughter the best...hutch
