Welcome Chris

First of all I would like to welcome you to NeuroTalk. This is a great site for any questions you may have.

Now as for the fibromyalgia thing panning out. It really depends on the person and how many tender points they have, whether they have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with it. So really how it effects one person is really difficult to tell. For instance I was dx with Fibro some time ago, but when I had a surgery in '03, the fibro kicked in something terrible. I have been out of work since Nov. of '03 and have had a rough time getting around. You can say I am just about home bound. However, please know that I am also having seizures and other illness that may or may not have anything to do with the fibro.

On a positive note, I have been going to physical therapy for the past 4 weeks and my therapist does something called cranialsacro therapy. It really takes the pain away from my tender points and helps me be able to get around somewhat more.

So to really answer your question...Fibro is unpredictable. You can be sick for a while, then get better. But later you can have a relapse and feel terrible again.

Here is a great site you can go to, to help you learn more. It is the national fibro organizational site...http://www.fmaware.org/site/PageServ...e=fibromyalgia

Hope all goes well with you.

I agree FM totally depends on the person and the ups and downs of the illness. It never truly goes away just into remissions. It isn't fatal, but sometimes it just feels that way.
Welcome!

Boy Wendy, you hit the nail on the head. I have FM and PM and every day is a cr*p shoot. When it hits hard, it means business. Mayo Clinic re-emphasized to me that the Barometric changes cause alot of havoc w/FM.
I can have a pretty good day, and then have several bad days in a row. It never leaves.

I do see a Rheumatologist, but they can only do so much. At least FM is recognized as a true illness now...

Daisy....if recogizing it as a true illness means having to see the silly Lyrica commerical 12 times a day then I will do it. :D
