Fiona ~ How did post surgery appt go??

Hi ~ I'm sorry I didn't reply to the thread about the questions you were going to ask the rep. at your post surgery appt. I just didn't get back to it. I've been having an awful pain flare, and haven't been online much.

I just wanted to know how your appointment went with the rep? Did you get all your questions answered that you wanted??

Did the rep. "tweak" your SCS?

Hope to hear from you. Take care. Hugs, Leesa

Post Surgery Appt

Hi Leesa- I know I am not Fiona, but having been through the post surgical thing too, I did want to comment that it was a dual appointment with the doc and the rep. The doc, of course, checked on his incision work and my progress from the healing perspective..... THEN I was turned over to the rep, who took me to another room and plopped me in front of a computer, took my remote and cradled it for comms with both my body and the computer, then a few instructions on how to operate the computer to reset, or rather, to set the programs which would become mine for my Boston Scientific unit. He checked my work, and afterward, I was set with four programs for the road and I have used them eversince. Life is improving..... glad for it.

Hope all is well with you,
Mark56 PJ :)

Hi, thanks for asking :)

I saw the rep. who asked me a lot of questions and while doing so, the Nurse Pract. walked in as did the implant nurse and asked me questions. How was I doing? Improving? Reduction in pain meds.? etc. I haven't seen the dr. since surgery and he is a busy surgeon so his N.P. (who assists him in surgery and his practice) and the implant nurse handle the follow-up unless there's a problem. The rep. then went on to give me a new program on the cervical as well as the lumbar. Will see them all again in about 10 days for next follow-up.

Have been having problems with incontinence so wearing panty liners (I know, tooo much info. for Mark), but us women know what a hassle that can be. It seems it's gotten worse since surgery so hoping that as time goes on it gets to be less and less.

I'm having to go back and forth on two programs in the lumbar area, but have been able to stay on one program for the cervical. Still have it on 24/7, and turn them down some when I sleep, esp. the lumbar one.

Again, thanks for thinking of me :D:D

Gosh, things surely have changed since I had my SCS. There was only ONE program, and that was that! If it didn't do the trick on that program, you were sunk. And all I could do with that program was turn it up, down, or off. So like I said, things have certainly improved since then! lol And there was NO WAY I could lay down with that thing on. The only position I can sleep is on my back, and if that thing was ON, I'd zap myself to death. LOL Even if it was on the lowest possible setting, I'd get zinged so badly, my eyes would go back in my head!! LOL

Gosh, Fiona, I hope and pray the incontinence stops. Have they given you hope that it will? I'll keep praying that it does. Are your pain levels reduced at all, or do you still have to take the same amount of meds?

I'll keep praying that things improve and your pain decreases! Take care, and God bless. Hugs, Leesa

It will stop

Yep, it will stop, even if it did seem to you it was TMI Fiona. It will stop. All of this stuff passes, so I am told.

I hope the incontinence stops or I'll be heading to the "Depends" aisle at my local supermarket
