new stress

i just found out that even though i am past 70 i still can be called for jury duty. i hope my psychiatrist will write a note if i get a summons. then Joyce called and offered me two cats. one is ten and the other is eight. I told him i didn't want them that old because they get sick and i would get attached and they would die. I said i wanted a younger cat. that gave me a headache.
Now i don't know if i want another cat. i am feeling too much pain over abby''s loss.I heard from my friend who got the results of the biopsy of his throat. it was negative but the doctor wasn't convinced so she is going to give him a deeper one next week.she said it should be fine and he is fit for his age.
I haven't heard from my friend i have been fighting with.
bobby
still haven't heard from lenox hill hospital. my friend kay who knows practically everything told me i should have gone to pysberterian (s) it is ranked one in practically everything. lenox hill ranked 27 in cardiology

golly bobby
we had a cat that lived to be over 20 years old.
I understand though wanting a younger cat.....
our cats are 8 and they seem very young still.

you were lucky to have a cat to live to 20. my friend's lived to 22 and another friend's lived to 26. One of mine lived to `17 1/2. Snowy died at 10.. Yuki died at 12 . socrates died at fourteen. tui died at fifteen. abby died at fifteen.
The cats are too old and too set in their ways. usually they start getting sick at age and vet bills are so expensive here. i don't know about there. you and jeff are working and i retired and you complain about money.

Bobby,

I hope that you get a beautiful sweet young healthy kittie cat.

thanks Mari. I went out of control in the last post. abby's illness with food cost around 1400 dollars. the food was about two dollars a day. she was worth every penny of it.

I was called for jury duty, and I asked my PCP to respond to them saying I couldn't go to the particular courthouse I was called to because it wasn't handicapped accessible. Instead, he wrote a letter telling them about my psych conditions and all the medications I take. As a result, they found me unfit to serve and I will never be called again.

I think that getting a another cat would help fill the void that Abby's death has left, but there's no rush to fill that void right now if you're still unsure or you're not ready yet. Don't try to force yourself into a decision you're not ready to make yet.

I remember talking about with you about this and I think I said it's a nice idea to give an older cat a good home, but I think you're 100% right that a cat 8-10 years old is too old for you. It would be unbearable to get attached and have something happen so soon after Abby died and you're right about the vet bills.
I think Pudge is too old to deal with a kitten, though. So you would want a cat that is at least over 1yr old, but a good companion for her would probably be a couple years older than that.

I had no idea you were fighting with Stella until I read it on BF's thread. I thought you were just avoiding her a little because she can be abrasive. I'm sorry you're dealing with this on top of everything else. Do you feel like you can just drop her a little note to test the waters? I know that she's your best friend… it would be a shame to lose that relationship.

Your cardiologist ordered the tests, and he should have the results by now. I think you should call his office and ask about them. If they won't give you your results over the phone, schedule a follow-up appointment. I hate that you've had to worry about this for so long.

I hope that your friend will be okay. I'm glad he has a good doctor who is going to be thorough and make sure that she doesn't miss anything. I hope her instincts are wrong and the next biopsy comes back negative, too.

I am still sort of fighting with stella. i am sleep deprived and been averaging about 4 hours a night for a very long time. I get irritable. when somebody spouts nonsense to me i get angry.
Joyce gave me a pure abyssinian kitten three years ago but abby didn't quite have her balance because of an inner ear infection remnants and the kitten kept on jumping on abby and left pudge alone.. I had to give up the kitten. she was so beautiful.
I just found out that my friend had a prolapsed bladder and has colon cancer in her family. she goes for a lot of colonoscopies and she has also had breast cancer. what a trooper until this coward.
bobby- right if i get a kitty cat it won't be a kitten

How long has Stella been involved with the Byron Katie crap? I don't know why she can't just pledge not to bring it up anymore…

I'm so sorry your friend has another health problem to deal with. It's amazing how much adversity some people have to face, and how well they deal with it… I'll say some good words for her.
I'm sure privately your friend has plenty of bad days, and struggles privately at times with the challenges she faces. You never know how you would react if you were in her situation Bobby. You have fight in you, too.

I really wish you were sleeping better :hug::hug:
I know you've tried a bunch of sleep meds… is there anything you haven't tried yet that your pdoc could write a script for?

i don't know how long stella has been into this b.k. stuff but it really got worse. it has overtaken her. right now she just lost her job and has to sell her other coop.
she says all will be fine. it all comes from her and not the world.
I can't believe flora. she is so very brave. she has a sense of humor about all that has happened to her.

Many states are putting in the 70 yr old + expemptions .

The 70 yr old exemption however has to be requested by the person called. Being 70 yrs old allows you to claim yourself as unfit and all you do is ask to be exempted on the questionaire.
People who are below 70 need a doctor's letter therefore to actually be excused.

Check with your local court employees on what is being done in your state.

I just went thru this process myself, and even though I am just a few months shy of 70, I was told to provide a doctor's letter to be excused, which I did. Besides I had been called twice before and sat one one felony trial. That is enough for me. And my doctor agreed.
