Question needed answered ASAP!!

Hey all!
How is everyone doing these days? Fine, I sure hope and pray! Anyway, I need a question answered, please!! My doc put me on Terazosin 1 MG. this is supposed to help treat the pain of RSD he said?? He said it is also for a-hemmmmm.. benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) also high blood pressure, which I already have a medication for that, being 0.1MG of clonidine. So my question is, has anyone ever taken this for RSD? He said the Dr.'s up in Cleveland are using this type of men's medication for RSD?? Anyone, please help?? Thank you!:)~Love, Desi

I have never heard of Terazosin before and never heard of it being used to treat RSD pain. It's a high blood pressure drug, and well, not to state the obvious, but it has nothing with which to decrease pain in it. Seems since you're already taking a blood pressure drug, if it helped pain you would've known it by now! LOL I'm also a bit baffled that now you're on 2 hbp meds how that might affect you physically, especially if the clonidine is controlling it for you.

Everyone I've heard on various boards who've gone to cleveland have never mentioned being treated with hbp meds for pain. They get pain meds for pain and of course various other meds depending on symptoms.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

Hugs,

Karen

You might ask Mrs d on the Medications forum- maybe she has heard something on it.

I found this on Drugs.com
http://www.drugs.com/terazosin.html

Terazosin is in a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. Terazosin causes the blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax and expand, improving blood flow.

I've never heard of it being used for RSD... but it doesn't surprise me as my doc wanted to try something similar with me but couldn't due to my already very low "normal for me" bp.... that was a couple of years ago. My BP is now in the high range.

Please let us know how it works for you.

Thanks Ladies!!

Hi Karen, Deb, Jo and Abbie!
Thank you all so very much for answering my question. Ok, I called my pharmacy and the lady there said do not take the clonodine with this other mild high pressure drug. So, I take it(On the bottle, it says ;"May cause dizziness, light headed, drowsy". Well, I took it, and 3 hours latter I was so tired, I got a full ights rest. I ran out of my percocetts(By the way they didn't help much for the break through pain). I am also on the fentynal patch. the next morning, I called my doc and told him, that I called my pharmacey and told them what they said about not taking both this and the clonodine.(This was this morning that I called) I was so "out of it still) Anyway, he told me I can take both at night. I am now taking tramadol for the pain. So, we shall see. Abbie, thank ou for that link. It tells a lot!! Thank you all again, ya "BEAUTIFUL LADIE'S YOU!!! All of you ROCK!!:D Love and :hug::hug::hug: ~Desi

I take Trental to expand my blood vessels. It does help I think because it seems to allow medications to work better. At least they seemed to work better once I started to take Trental.
