Can Fever, Stomach virus affect PD med absorption?

I have had PD for over 10 years and I take mirapex and sinemet daily and these meds work fairly well in handling my symptoms . But over the last week I came down with some sort of stomach virus and fever which have persisted for 5 days. Each day I have noticed and been troubled by the fact that the first couple of doses of my mirapex and sinemet have not worked at all. My symptoms have not been under control and its not till I'm halfway thru my 3rd dose (about 5 to 6 hours into my day) that I start getting any relief. I 've never had this happen to me before? Has anybody else had this problem? What do you think is the cause? Is there anything I can do during this sickness to get my meds to absorb properly? Your help is much appreciated.

There's an anti emetic which is safe for PWP to take called Domperidone (other name Motilium) It's on prescription only.
I assume you have nausea and vomiting and this will definitely help that. Many G.P's don't know about the importance of not prescribing the usual anti emetic eg Stemetil so you may have to warn them/jog their memory!
Good luck,
Lee

The short answer is...

...yes, anything that stresses your system is going to temporarily worsen your PD. That's true of everything from emotional upset to overwork to a virus. Even non-PWP often are laid low by the latter. And they don't have to factor in the disruptions to their medical regimen.
