Question about flying

I've heard various things about how long to wait before flying after/with PCS. I'm guessing that much has to do with how extensive your vestibular (i.e. inner ear) problems are.

I am still having problems with balance. I don't fall and am able to walk and stand up straight. However, I get woozy after driving more than a short ways, going up and down elevators, and when having to bend down and stand up a lot (I'm trying to get better at avoiding this last when possible). I suspect that given these balance issues, I am not yet ready for air travel, and may not be for some time. I think the pressure changes and turbulence could really set off my symptoms.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Any feedback is much appreciated.

I did fly for 1.5 hours

I fell in October and while the dr was not thrilled I had scheduled a family vacation. She had me take meds (antivert) and I used ear plugs and I survived the flight in both directions with no more or less symptoms, but then again I had limited activities so I did not enjoy the vacation as much as I could have....I have vestibular problems, and vertigo and hearing sensitivity as well as motion, but I did not throw up...I guess I lucked out:winky:

What kind of med is Antivert? I take it the name is short for "anti-vertigo," yes? Is it prescription or over-the-counter?

yes that's the med

Anti vert....but also called meclazine....not mescalin.....I bought it at costco as Travel Sickness by Rugby....a bottle of 100 of 25mg for 3.77...inexpensive enough...dr said no to dramamine....my drug spelling is not great....:D
