I miss you Sherry

This is a story that is so painful, that I have never talked about it to anyone for years. So finally I have found the strength to let it out. I had a very good friend, one day someone called me and said Sherry is going to kill herself. I called her mom who lived across the street from her and told her to please go check on her and I'm on my way. We didn't have cell phones yet, by the time I got there, there was an ambulance, she had cut her wrist so bad with a razor blade that she had to have surgery. It took her months of rehabilitation for her to be able to use that hand. I told her if she ever did anything like that again I would personally spank her butt. We cried a lot together. She was finding happiness. I had her dating again, living her life. I stood by her like we were attached at the hip. One night she said she was going to see some friends. She was so happy I thought she would be o.k. but I was wrong. Her mother began calling me, I started calling everybody, where is Sherry. They found her in a ditch murdered. Here she was 19 years old just survived suicide and now she's dead. I didn't sleep until we found out who killed my friend. We found her murderer. It was another young girl. Sherry was murdered over $200. The murderer got life. I've never made sure she was still in jail but I hope nothing but bad luck for her for the rest of her miserable life. She took my beautiful Sherry away. I cannot and will not forgive her.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this legalmania...you saved her only to lose her. What a dear and good friend you were to her. Life is just so full of people trying to overcome adversity, live with chronic pain, hope for a better tomorrow...it takes courage just to rise from bed some mornings.

Thanks for sharing about Sherry...it's good to talk, to get your feelings on the table. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend, I can't imagine what I'd do if I lost my friend. It is good that she had such a good friend. You took away the pain and the lonliness from her, and you can't imagine how much that maens for a suicidal person; you made her feel like she mattered.

The world needs more people like you. Your simple desire to be a friend is the most important thing in the world to people like me, or like Sherry.

Thank you for sharing your story.
