Help! Grandma had acute renal failure!

Hello my Grandma was scheduled to have an operation on her lady parts (not specified). Well the tests for the pre-op came back as her having a very low red blood cell count among other things. She had to go to the emergency room and is in the hospital now. They diagnosed her as having acute renal failure and gave her 2 blood transfusions. 2 pints I think. This scared her as before they did it they asked if she had a will and funeral arrangements. She had been taking aspirin for a pain that she was having right below her ribcage. I'm not sure if it was on her back or front. They did an Mri of the thoracic and i think 7-8 showed something. And L2-L3 showed something. They did an ultrasound of her kidney and of her bladder which I think came back normal. I visited her tonight and she seemed in good spirits, they had her on oxygen. She will see the nephreologist tommorrow. She is 80 years old.

Anyone know what could have caused this? How best to treat it? Is she going to die? Was it from her ibuprofon or aspirin she was taking?
