Frontal cortex and posterior perceptual areas

Hello sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I don't have knowledge of the brain. But since you are reading this could you please help me with one question? I am looking for some way to increase the activity between connections in the frontal cortex and the posterior perceptual areas of the brain during sleep. Can this can be done chemically or maybe some other way?... Why am I asking this? Well lately I am interested in sleep and the brain. When we fall asleep our awareness falls, we just "go with the flow". You don't realize how stupid or farfetched some things are in a dream. These areas (Frontal cortex and posterior per. area), I think are responsible for evaluation and eventually realizing that you are dreaming. Just to be frank, I'm looking for a way to know that I'm dreaming while I'm asleep.

P.s Maybe what I should be looking at is the stem and thalamus?
Thanks for any input!
