Insulin Resistance getting it in control

Hi, I have had insulin resistance or Pre diabetes for several years, about 7 years ago, my doctor put me on metefomin to help with insulin absorption. I went to my new doctor recently, he took me off it, as my A1c was only 54. But know I got a second opinion from a Endocronologist, he took some bloodtests, and wanted to see me back in a year. Well I got a phone call that he wanted me to come back in to discuss the bloodwork, so I don't think it will be to congratulate me for reversing my diabetes... He was on the panel of Doctors that wrote the medical journal on "Diagnosis and managment of prediabetes in the continuum of hyperglycemia" so, boy am I in trouble! :0) I thought his approach of treating hypothyroidism was a little outdated, so this talk will be interesting...
I have been eating a low carb vegetarian diet for 15 years now. I have been lacto vegitarian for 35 years, but I used to include lots of sugery treats and carbs, before I wised up. My mother is diabetic, so I guess I got her genes.

Hi Jon sparky,
How'd you get on with your doctor's appointment?

I had seen your message here but didn't post, I'm sorry, because I don't have Insulin Resistance
but my daughter does so I check this forum from time to time.

Her Insulin Resistance is related to PCOS. She's been doing pretty well the last year or so especially
with huge changes in her diet and increasing her exercize. She had been taking Metformin but has had
a long break from that of late.

I was just telling someone else the other day how she'd done so well changing things around when just
out of the blue yesterday she found her Metformin and for some reason said she needed to start taking it again. sigh

Well, just wanted to say "hello" and I hope that your appointment went well.

A fasting insulin level will tell quite a bit. It is typically elevated in insulin resistant patients.
