Post Concussion Syndrome/Traumatic Brain Injury

Hello,
My husband was injured 5 months ago. Our life has been less than normal since. He stumbled upon your sight while researching PCS/TBI. Reading all the discussions really helped him. The beginning of PCS/TBI is very difficult. Doctors don't diagnose it and you think your crazy! My husband has had severe headaches almost constantly since being hit in the head with a metal door at work. He's had neck problems, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting, irritable, depression, unable to sleep, loss of mathmatical skills, spelling and writing, memory loss, thought process has been impaired. His equilibrium was off for the first couple of months. He walked like he was drunk. It seems like a closed head injury is very difficult for anyone to diagnose and understand. I sometimes think it would have been easier on him if he had lost a limb! Unless you live with someone with PCS/TBI, you can't understand the pain and suffering they go through! My heart goes out to the people with brain injuries and, their families. We finally got into a teaching hospital and hopefully my husband will get some relief from the pain that he has endured for 5 months.
Being a mom with two boys, I've dealt with concussions and know how serious they are. The last neurosurgeon told my husband that he could not stress enough how dangerous it would be for him to have another blow to the head. Moms and Dads with kids in sports... please protect your children! My oldest son had a very serious concussion and played baseball for the entire season. However, I made sure that he had a helmet on for the entire season. Sure...lots of coaches stopped the game when he got on the field but, when they found out the reason for the helmet, they were okay. Helmets probably aren't allowed on soccer fields but, maybe soccer parents should stress the importance. I have been shocked to hear the statistics on sports related head injuries for children.
