Stalevo versus Trivastal and Amantadine

As a PD patient I have been taking Requip 16 mg and Stalevo(100,100,50,50) for the last 10 years. Now after DBS Requip intake decreased by 2 mg and Stalevo is replaced by Trivastal and Amantadine. Considering the experience of users of this forum is this substantial improvement? If yes has anybody experienced this before and what kind of side effects does this change have on the body? Thanks.

Cesar,

It's a bit simplistic, but you can compare one set of Parkinson's drugs with another using the concept of levodopa equivalent daily dose (LEDD).

See thread:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread169655.html

Note these are estimates based on the literature, which is not always in agreement.

Your daily dose, before:
Requip 16mg, scaling factor = 20, giving LEDD of 320mg
Stalevo 300mg, SF=1.33, LEDD = 400mg
Total LEDD = 720mg

After:
Requip 14mg
Trivastal (dose not reported) is piribedil SF=1
Amantadine (dose not reported) SF=1

John
