Spinach -- e -coli warning
I thought I'd just mention this to make sure it's known.
Some of the fresh bagged spinach has been causing e coli in about 22 states {USA} so far. I'll post a few links - http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,214865,00.html http://edition.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/0....ap/index.html |
Thanks for posting that Jo! I have no idea how I missed it, but I just found it now. Sorry. I was surprised to read that they don't know how it was contaminated; in the field or after it left. One of those stories eluded to the fact it may have been due to flooding??
Maybe they've updated it by now, dunno. I haven't followed the story because I don't buy or eat spinach. Anyone know? Thanks again for keeping us on top of things Jo! Hugs, LS :) |
no cases have been reported in texas so far. i can't find fresh spinach at all. might just have to go get some seeds. i sure miss it. frozen and canned just isn't the same.
( for cooking ) adding chopped frozen spinich to low fat ranch dressing....yum. i haven't heard how the contamination started. |
