My Problem.

I'm awaiting to see Neuro Surgeon, ongoing problem with disc's!
I had cervical discectomy C6/7 1992, recently had MRI which showed,
Cervical degeneration level C5/6 with formation of disc osteophyte bar, plus degenerative change,
The disc osteophyte bar intents thecal sac, there is bilateral exit foramen narrowing at this level, equally severe on both sides,,,,,
can someone please explain this in easier terms??
Thanks

All of that needs to be correlated with your complaints and exam findings. That said, one might expect to see weakness of muscles including deltoids, biceps, with grasping and motions of the wrist. Possibly pain and sensory changes about the thumb side of the hand as well as the thumb and index fingers. Thecal indentation probably isn't doing much, but could be, and depending on your central canal diameter, long tract signs into your legs and feet are doubtfully on the radar but could be. These are just possibilities....doesn't mean you must have them...

Thanks for the info Dubious,
I have been suffering with less feeling in arms, down to hands, dropping things, as if arms are useless.
Also pain is spreading to lower back, and right leg.
Pain is immense through whole of body, making me less mobile.
Doctor has prescribed Gabapentin, I've had bucket full of Pain relief, which has not eased it, next step Morphine???
I'm trying to find as much info, so as to understand, other than just pain.
My MRI also says Smaller disc osteophyte bar present 4/5 slight narrowing of exit foramina, no where near as extensive as above, that I quoted!!
Thanks for your info,
lin

Thanks for input Dubious,,,,
Not sure if sent reply, not sure if I'm doing things right, confusing myself, with threads lol

I have all problems you've mentioned, plus pain is also further down back, going into right leg, making me less mobile.
I have same problem, as above in disc's 4/5, less severe my MRI scan says??
I do thank you for your input/help, just trying to understand better, before see Neuro surgeon,,,
Thanks again lin
