1st Rib Resection Tomorrow

I will be having a first rib resection surgery tomorrow. This is for Bilateral Arterial Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I also have an extra cervical rib on each side so they will actually be removing 2 ribs. They will do the right side first then let me heal and then do the left side. I am pretty nervous and I hope everything goes well!

Wow that is quick, but with the extra c ribs as a part of the problem it is usually a good result .

Just be very careful during your recovery time, a few have had a car accident, or even a quick reach to catch something - just let it fall...:)

Best of luck, and we hope to hear good things when you are feeling well enough to post again. :grouphug:

I was very suprised my self but my surgeon just happened to have a cancellation tomorrow and wants to do the worst side then so I figured, there is really no point to put it off. I will keep you all updated and be trying to read for pointers on a smooth recovery! My teenage kids are home for the summer so they will be helping me alot. They are 19 and 17 year old boys plus i have hubby to help so this really is the best time for me to do this!

Hi

I have just been told that both my cervical ribs have to be removed starting with the right side. I'm a little worried. Just wondered how you got on and how how you are feeling now.

I have two children so will probably need some help from parents. Just waiting for a date.

Regards
Jannene
