SFN and hair

does anyone have tips for keeping the hair healthy? I have SFN all over and the hair on my head is slowly thinning and super limp. Even the strongest hair products have a tough time keeping it up.

I have had slow steady hair loss since the neuropathy spread to my scalp (as well as everywhere else) 2 years ago. And I didn't have much to start with!

My dermatologist said I have seborrheic dermatitis but it doesn't fit the description perfectly. My scalp gets mildly inflamed from time to time and turns pink in spots. I use a regimen of Nizoral in both regular and prescription strength as well as normal shampoo. I think it helps but it's hard to tell, the hair just keep slowly falling out. I have also used Olux foam on occasion for bad flares.

I was hoping this might be a clue as I'm currently "idiopathic" but apparently doctors aren't too interested in hair loss as a symptom of anything. And I've read seborrheic dermatitis (if thats what I have) is common in neurological disorders.

I never had the scalp issues until the numbness spread to my scalp, so I know there is a connection somewhere.... I wish I had better advice, but I haven't had much success myself.

Hello junkydog: I'm sorry I don't think I have any useful suggestions. My hair is thinning & I have a big bald spot on the crown all simply due to aging. I just massage my scalp multiple times daily thinking that it may help to keep the skin from getting tight & the blood flowing. But I don't know if it really does any good. Anyway... I noticed this is your first post here on NT. So I mostly just wanted to say welcome to NeuroTalk! I trust you will find the time you spend here to be of benefit. :)

Hi Junkydog
I was just going to ask the same question when yours was the first post I saw. I'm currently using plantur 39 + Nioxin shampoo and supplementing with a high dose Biotin, still losing quite a bit every wash though but I think I have some re-growth on bald areas at the front. I don't know what else to try i'm afraid.

Thanks everyone, i'll give those a try :)

I've been using Paul Mitchell volume shampoo in hopes of keeping the hair stronger. Maybe I will add in some essential oils.
