SSDI Approval to start.....

Hi all! I was wondering how long it takes to get the awards letter after receiving the fully favorable decision in the mail? My attorney did the appeal through the mail a couple weeks ago and we received a decision already!:D He told me I could see $$$ in my bank account b4 I see the award letter in the mail, but sometimes it could take up to 90 days. I am obviously new to this and trying to get as much info. as I can ahead of time so I am not overwhelmed :eek:when all of the SS paperwork comes in.

I have been on WC, so that will also play a big part in my monthly figures. I am thankful that my entire SSDI process was just a couple weeks less than a year, as I have seen and heard some people go through years waiting and fighting.

Any insight would be appreciated!! Thanks.

You need to make sure that all worker's comp info has been submitted. It should be in the electronic file. If the WC data is not sufficient, the PC will assume that you are still getting it.

60-90 days for retroactive benefits is a reasonable time frame, like your lawyer said.

The WC info is up to date and I am still getting that. MMI rated 75% permanent partial disabled from the WC, so unless they decide to offer a large amount for me to close out with open medical, I guess I will collect both, with the offset of course....

My attorney is handling both my Comp case and SS case, so he has submitted all necessary forms. We did the appeal paperwork together in the office and he mailed it in. They (SS) knew from the beginning I was on comp. I think the issue for them will be keeping straight when my comp pay amount changed (even though they have it)!:)

Yes, they hold back the 1st five months, but that brings me to start collecting from January 2011. I am sure it will be a big jumbled mess with the whole comp. thing in play at the same time. (see my other response/post above)

I am somewhat happy, yet somewhat very sad! It makes me own the disability now. Even though I knew what I was applying for (SSDI) it wasn't real until I received the approval, if that makes sense? My "shrink" tells me this is very normal for somebody like myself, who is used to working, being organized, regimented, great work ethic etc....just need time to process the changes! So for now it is 1 day at a time for me. (my issue is my hands..10 bilateral surgeries, so it is hard to find jobs that would allow me to not use my hands much or take a bazillion breaks a day!! :D

good luck with your SSDI also! hopefully you will get some back pay and if so, in time for the Holidays!!

Well Don1956, you are pretty much my neighbor! I'm in Rochester. Strange huh? I am sure as time goes on I will be less emotional about it all, hopefully! I was a government worker doing office, secretarial work, good god, right? Being 41 yrs. old, young whatever...adds to the :mad::eek::mad:

I just hope my shrink knows what she is talking about!

Have a great day!!! We are having some great weather here in Rochester lately, how's it been in Syracuse? People think bcuz the 2 cities are so close we share the same weather, but no thanks!! I know in the winter it is like a world apart between Syracuse and Buffalo and we are stuck in the middle!:)
