Pixel and DPI

Is there a difference between pixels and DPI? (dots per inch) It occured to me that they both seem the same to me but always used separately so I can't be sure.

Wow!

That question hardly ever gets the correct answer LOL. I started to answer it, and realized I was writing a book, and I was even confusing me hahahaha!

Well, so as not to rewrite history, and not get all tangled up in geekspeek lol, here is a link.

DPI is what your printer spews out – dots on paper. PPI is what digital cameras and scanned images produce. True, the world won’t end if we interchange these terms, but we need to understand that PPI is input; DPI is printer output.
