Mom going back into surgery

Sigh, unfrippinbelievable. Mom went to the surgeon this morning for a 4 week ? recheck of her left arm that had the repair surgery.

It's all undone. She has to have the surgery again this afternoon. She balked, and they said if she doesn't have it done she'll never regain use of that arm.

Crikies.

The good news is, she's been released from the nursing home and only has to spend one night in the hospital after the surgery.

I'm sorry too Doody. I hope that all goes well, and the surgeon's able to achieve an excellent outcome this time.

Many troughts, prayers and :hug: Doody.

Atleast its not a long term stay. It will be over before she knows it. Better one night in the hospital than loss of the use of that arm.

Thanks everyone. She went into surgery at 4:18 and was in her hospital room at 8:18. I was beginning to worry it took so long.

When she came back up to her room it was like before. She was sobbing and gasping and gulping and moaning and tense as a board.

The doctor explained things to us but I can't remember it all. Her bones are shot and he said one of them just split open and undid everything. She now has more wires and screws and another plate. When they removed the staples from the first surgery, there were 36. I wonder how many there are this time. Ugh. I am still appalled that in all the years she's seen her doctor she has never ever had a bone density scan...ever!

I told him that all this time in the nursing home they have been doing physical therapy on her arm including moving it around in circles, up and down and such and I wasn't happy about that. He was surprised and said she shouldn't have been having that therapy. Well...really now.

She had fentanyl in her when I left and I suggested to the nurse that they may want to resort to ativan again as that was the only thing that calmed her down in the hospital 4 weeks ago.

Please, I'm sorry I haven't been here but I just, well haven't felt like it. My brain goes on overload when I try to get through a lot of the posts. So any absence is simply a selfish act of self-preservation. And I've been SO busy at work and it's been stressful busy so that hasn't helped.

Thank you so much for your well wishes and prayers and concerns, I truly appreciate them and all of you. Of course you are all always in my thoughts on a daily basis.

More lows than highs lately and you all know how that goes!

Much love, Nancy
