PN One Foot Hurts More
 

My feet and lower legs are affected by PN, the left foot hurts so much more and burns and has also turned to the left and I have to be careful my foot does not drag and trip me when I walk. I am also recovering from a car accident last July whee I broke my back and just now being able to walk again with use of cane and at times around the house without a cane. I take Neurotine for the PN. Needless to say at times even before accident I was unsteady on my feet.

I read in your other post that you have had this for 5 years.

Would you mind telling us exactly what tests you have had, such as MRI, spinal taps, emgs and what specialists you have seen??? Since this happened before your accident, people here will need as much info as you can supply.

Just wanted to add my welcome to Mel's. Along with the info she asked for, could we also know at what level your spine was injured and what the prognosis was for it?

I know my neuro said on is usally worse in one but often spreads. I only had symptoms in 1 foot/ankle for almost 3 months but then it a few weeks ago went to the other leg in similar area but not nearly the horrid pain as in the left. Hopefully you can post your tests and what things you have tried so you can get more imput. Take care.

I have more pain in my right foot, yet it seems the left foot is worse. It swells more, it sometimes seems to drag and flop--my carpal tunnel is worse in my left hand. I don't know, maybe they are equal in problems, just more pain on one side. My right foot often feels like I am walking on broken bones and I have never had that feeling with the left. This PN is a weird thing to deal with.

I'll add my welcome to Mel's and Billye's too. I experience an asymmetric pain pattern w/ my PN also. My right toes and foot are almost always much colder than my left, whether the skin temperature is cool or not, my perception of the paraesthesia is almost always that peculiar sensation.

My earliest and now PN symptoms were asymmetric too, right sided tingling, burning and electric shocks which may or may not be related to lumbar spondylolisthesis and right-sided foraminal narrowing too. In any case I experience the asymmetry of the pain daily - no real answer as yet but I keep looking.

Though my pain developed somewhat evenly, I have noticed for the past few months that my left foot is frequently worse than my right and often has a burning feeling on top of the other pain even when its absent in the right.
