lower back pain

Ok everyone I'm new to this sight and looking for some help... I'm in my 20s I've been diagnosed with sciatica and recently found out that I have a lower back protrusion where the bottom of my spine is off set by like a few cm which is now inflamed and irritating my nerves... I work on my feet all day and sometimes the muscle spasms that shoot from my lower back to my feet.. I've been getting steroid injections and taking tramadol hydrocodone and tizanidine to help with the pain... I do not want to be on oral pain meds or have to get injections the rest of my life... the doctor is now wanting to try a compounded topical medication just wondering if anyone has tried anything like this and if it's a good idea... it has nabumetone gabapentin ketamin lidocaine prilocaine amitriptyline and magnesium in it... any feedback would be greatly appreciated... ty

I have never heard of this combination of topical medications; but all the same there is quite a mixture of meds that will be absorbed in your system.

I had started out some years ago with the steroid injections for the sciatica and spasms. Got about three a year. The doctor said they were going into muscle so I shouldn't worry about the effect causing bone problems. I can understand your not wanting to continue with a regimen of steroid injections, etc. Is your doctor a Pain Management Doctor??

I eventually did get a spinal fusion of the L4-5 lumbar area. I no longer had the sciatica; but deal with different spine issues.

If you haven't already, you might want to check with an orthopedic doctor specializing with the spine area.
