RSD forum is moving very fast and growing

Is everyone able to keep up with all the threads that they would like to?
Threads and topics are moving down the list so quickly-

A idea was suggested that maybe a sub forum could be made here - possibly for the medical articles, technical, therapies or somehow divide the posts by some category- what do you think?

For me, part of the magic of the site lies in the fact that everything is jumbled together, so that we have science, and feelings and hello how are you all in the same breath. I fear that if we go to sub-categories, that people will just tend to gravitate to where they feel the most comfortable, thereby minimizing the opportunities for "cross-pollenization," if you'll have it.

It is part of the dharma of interdependence, as in dependant co-origination, to be specific.

Everything arises only in comparison to everything else. All that is immutable is nothing-whatsoeverness.

Word of Warning

Hi Folks,

We should never ever play Scrabble with Mike. We would loose. Hugs, Roz

I agree with what Mike said in his first post:

As an advocate of an explanation of RSD that makes scientific sense, rather than the meaningless gibberish from a neurological explanation that contradicts much of what is known about neurology, I would hate to see my words shunted off to a sub-category that some would avoid as just "too technical" to understand.

I am working on descriptions that don't cause eyes to glaze over - and making some progress - but science is science; other writers on RSD use phrases like "reprogramming nerves" to make the subject easier to misunderstand, but this disease is destroying our lives and the only way out is to learn the facts.

(By the way, our nerves can't be reprogrammed; they are hard wired with alternative hard wiring to compensate when someone uses chemicals to "reprogram" them; this is why blocks, and ketamine, eventually stop working).

Mike, I gotta admit I didn't understand a word in your second post, probably more Buddhism, but that's ok, I've started rereading my Bible; want to make sure I really understand things like Salvation and the parts about getting out of here before the **** really hits the fan, a prospect that appears to be more real as each day passes. I may even talk about that here.

Maybe we can agree to disagree on this, rather then getting engaged in overblown debates; just share our thoughts and let others decide what makes sense to them...Vic

there is always the option of keeping the forum the as it is -

but still have the sub forum for those posts that we would like to be more easily available via searches- tech, med , articles.
They could still be posted on the regular forum but could be copied to the sub forum saving on searching time.

The benefit of having it as a subforum vs a sticky is a sticky take up room at the top of the page where a subforum would be a separate link to open.

Jo

The way you explained it last sounds ok. When you first asked, I agreed with Michael. We don't want to get away from having the how are you's and what is going on in someone's personal life taken away from the mix.

It's hard for me to sit here all day and go from site to site so I like to just go down the roll and pick out the ones I can help that I have delt with but we have so many on here that we have became friends with that I am also interested in their personal life.

If you could just leave the forum as it is and then sat up the other sites where the medical and therapy are put into them would be ok. Just leave them in the regular forum also where we don't have to go hunting for them if we aren't just interested in PT or medical.

I hope I explained this right. I'm not one for change and it's hard for me to get use to it. Although I have learned in the past few years that things do change and we have to change with them wheather we like it or not.

yes Ada - just how you explained it was what I was thinking of.

coachV 01-30-2007 09:15 PM

huh?

i may be overthinking this, but i'm not sure how to vote...i like the idea of everything being included here, but also copied to a sci/tech sub-forum.

so how do i vote for that?
