Bumpy Start to 2015

Happy New Year.......I think. I thought I was just having a few rough MS days but this is a full fledged MS flare up. And I believe it was triggered by a UTI.

Spasticity is through the roof so my balance is also affected. I've been taking Baclofen and while it helps it also makes me sort of loopy and slows me down even more. Not that I need to do anything in a rush it's just such an obvious side effect.

I really want to feel better. And I know things could be so much worse. I try hard not to complain because I know there are others with much more severe ailments.

I'm hesitating contacting my neurologist because I know there's not anything he can do. I probably will just so my medical records can be documented.

So......the year begins a little slower than I had planned but things will get better. I try to remember all the things I have to be thankful for......and that's a lot. I'm going to take advantage of being able to rest and recooperate now so I can enjoy my little grandbabies as they grow up and become more mobile.

It seems like there are several of us here that are having a rough start to 2015. I hope everyone gets better soon.

So sorry to learn this. Rest up and drink lots of water.

Have you tried d-mannose for this? We have had some PNers who used it with success to prevent UTIs.

Its such a great thing to be able to focus on the more positive, especially when physical situations seem intent on pulling our attention there instead. Hat's off to you Kitty for bringing in your New Year with that attitude and a heartfelt congratulations on your grand babies.

Most of all thank you for the reminder that we have a choice in where we rest our minds and what we focus upon .

With love, Erika

I haven't but I'm going to look it up and learn more about it. Thanks mrsD!

mrsD, I just ordered some d-mannose. The reviews on it were great and I had $29 in perks to spend at drugstore.com so I ordered some by NOW. Hoping it gets here soon.....the reviews on it were so encouraging I can't believe doctors don't recommend it.

{{{{Kelly}}}}, Yep UTI's are nasty customers and it isn't as though you haven't
had any stress and excitement, lately:eek::eek:. Sit back, relax, take a deep breath.
Let someone take care of you, for awhile. You deserve it.

After Holiday illnesses abound. I just got off of the phone, talking to my DH's X
(imagine that:D), in the hospital with breathing problems. The hustle bustle is
hard on us aging folks (not you;)), especially us with chronicle illnesses.

Feel better soon Darlin!

Kitty,

When I feel a UTI coming on I double up on my cranberry capsules and drink loads of water. And I get myself to the bathroom quick when I have to go. It takes me a long time to empty thanks to MS, but I sit there and wait it out. At work they think I'm just wasting time in the bathroom and DH thinks I'm dawdling in there but it helps to wait until you completely empty if you can. Get well soon and enjoy those beautiful grandkids sweetie!

i hope you get over the UTI asap. did you get on antibx's?

i would appraise your dr of the problems. i'm sure he'd want to be aware.

there's always someone better off and worse off than ourselves.
that doesn't mean our troubles are any better or worse. we each have something to deal with.

let us know how you are. i hope the baclofen works over time. just give into the fatigue and try to rest.

:hug: sorry to hear you're not doing well, sweetie...take care of yourself and do all that was advised above...

Aw, Kelly! I just saw this thread. I hope you are starting to do better. UTIs can sneak up on us and cause all sorts of symptoms, including a nasty flare.
