Mestinon and diarrhea

Do any of you take an anti-diarrhea med with Mestinon to help with the diarrhea?

With the diarrhea do you also get the severe stomach cramps or the vomiting or the sweats at the same time. I was on 150 mg 2 times a day and had those symptoms but severely. So I dropped my dose down to 60 mg due to too scared of the side effects.

Dear Nikos,

I don't take anti-diarrheal medications with the Mestinon. You might try talking with your doctor if you are having this side effect. If you've just started taking Mestinon, your body might be getting used to it. Ask your doctor about taking a lower dose first, and that may help. For instance, if your doctor prescribed 60 mg pills, try starting with 1/4 pill first, and then working up to 60 mg pills over a few days or a week, with your doctor's permission. That can reduce side effects. I had some diarrhea initially, but that side effect went away for me once my body adjusted. I hope you feel better soon!

Take care,
Erin

Nikos, the diarrhea will go away. I found eating a banana helps. It also helps with that weird lip sensation I got from the upping of the dosage.
