According to a study conducted in Thailand researchers have found that eating pumpkin seeds as a snack can help prevent the most common type of kidney stone, called a calcium oxalate stone. Pumpkin seeds appear to reduce levels of substances that promote stone formation in the urine and increases levels of substances that inhibit stone formation. Two studies conducted in China and Russia found that pumpkin seeds seem to be helpful to rid the body of parasitic disease. Pumpkin seeds also contain L-tryptophan and some researchers suggest that they may help remedy depression, further studies are needed though.
