quit smoking 3 years ago today, and have not had a single relapse (not even one cigarette—not even a single drag).

WOW!!! John, that's grand. Three years without one single break is just super. I'll bet you make it for the rest of a healthy life.

My last cigarette was Oct. 10, 2005 -- whew. :p

Thanks for the links! Jim and I are down to 4-5 a day. As soon as we get back from my mom's brain surgery we plan to kick the habit for good! I love the meter...way cool.

hypnosis

While it might not be right for everyone, my hubby quite smoking Nov. 14th 2006...no cravings, can't stand to be around the smoke from others smoking so he leaves the area...tries really hard to not preach to anyone about smoking....lost my Dad to what started as lung cancer and it went to his brain and he absolutely would not quit smoking...the last few days of his life he had Mom light and hold a cigarette for a drag or two and she'd put it out.

Most of my brothers and sisters smoke and it drives Mom nuts, she makes them go out in the yard, far away from her.

Th program that my hubby used was mass hypnosis....several dozen people in one room at the Holiday Inn...no one on one...half way through the 3 hour seminar, the group was instructed to go go smoke their last cigarette and 90 minutes later he came out a non-smoker...threw what was left away! I'm really proud of him!:circlelove::Heart:

I quit August 4th, 2007 and haven't looked back after being a packet-a-day smoker for 40 years. I'd tried many times in the past, but only managed a few days or weeks....never months, and never without that terrible craving.

I used the patches this time for one month (almost to the day) then gave them away. So far I've only had the occassional mild craving, but definitely not strong enough to tempt me back to a cigarette.

DH has still been having the occassional one, but never in front of me. I smell it on his clothes, in his hair and on his breath though, no matter how long ago it was. At least he's almost given them away. Sometimes he doesn't have one all week, so he's nearly there.

The reason I believe that I'm winning this time, after failing so often in the past, is that this time I wanted to give up! Other times I only tried because I felt I had to, like when the doctor said so, or some other reason apart from it being wholey my own decision.

I can't believe it's been 6 months already, and I truely believe that they're gone forever this time.

Good luck to all who are giving it a go.

My 12 months was up on August 4th....and I still don't want a cigarette! (thank goodness)

Congratulations LarryLDN. I know now that I will never go back on them.

I'm around people who smoke and it doesn't bother me, doesn't make me want to light up, nothing. It's great. I NEVER thought I'd feel this way. All I had to do is leave my marital family behind. Went from 30 to 8 over night, 2 months later I quit.

Oct. 10 was three years without smoking for me. I'm disgustingly proud of myself. :p
