Medical alert?

Do we RRMS'ers actually need one? Some sources say yes, other sources don't mention MS as one of the conditions that requires one.

Many sources recommend them because of some of the medications people with MS may take.

I have a Life Alert, but it wasn't until I began falling alot, living alone, and now am SPMS. The newer models look really cool, they can see if someone is in your house or if there's a fire.

Actually I had to use mine today for the first time. Set it off accidentally twice before, but my battery in the powerchair "pooped out" while I was sitting in my recliner. The phone wasn't handy and of course I can't move much. Got up my nerve to press the button that activates the sound EMERGENCY -- EMERGENCY -- EMERGENCY -- really loud. My little dog didn't like it at all. She was still in her crate and yap, yap, yap. The person comes on and asked what the emergency was. I just needed them to contact one of my "contact" people since I was stuck! The guy stayed on the line with me until my friend arrived.

It's $49.00 a month, but a day like today, for me it was worth every penny. Good luck with whatever you decide!!!:)

i have medic alert and carry the card in my wallet.
i have the bracelet and probably should wear it but i don't.

the most important thing is to keep the info up to date.

you might ask your dr what they think.
if you don't have any other medical conditions and your MS is mild it might not be a worry.

I was advised to get one because of all the medications I'm on and because of my swagger :o I opted for the USB one that stores all your medical information on it, what medicines, etc. Just make sure it's kept up to date.
