Is there any extra testing that I should ask for at my annual check-up with my GP?
I was just recently diagnosed with MG and I am about to make an appointment for my annual physical check-up with my 'general practitioner' who I have been seeing for many years. She usually checks my weight, breathing, blood pressure, urinalysis, and basic blood work that includes cholesterol.
Besides the 'normal blood work' I have done each year, is there any extra lab work etc. that I should request? Background: [I was diagnosed January 2014 with Myasthenia Gravis. I am AChR antibody positive, esotropic strabismus with diplopia, and ptosis around my right eye brow and eye lid. I'm taking 60mg Pyridostigmine Bromide 3 times a day, which really helps my double vision and corrects my crossed eye.] THANKS :-) |
Do you see a neurologist on a regular basis? If so, I can't see another test I would think you may need. Good luck at your appointment!

Yes, ask for a vitamin panel especially the Vitamin D tests. Also potassium. And thyroid if it's not already being done.

My GP sent me to a Rheumatologist to have testing for other autoimmune diseases since they usually occur in groups. Luckily, all other antibody tests were negative. I was also diagnosed with Raynaud's and B12 deficiency. I was then sent to a pulmonologist for baseline pulmonary function testing. Good Luck
