My lower lip is numb...should I be worried?

I noticed a little while ago, that my lower lip is numb, and the back of my neck just feels weird, not quite sure if it's numb or not. (that's a bit disturbing)

My tongue doesnt feel like it's numb...that I can tell, my lower jaw and the bottoms of my ears feel a little numb.

my upper back does feel a little weird too.

Oh, and I have insomnia tonight. (here we go again!) It's almost 430am CST here. My dad should be getting up to go to work in about 20 minutes.

I had to cancel my dentist appointment last week (nose was plugged up). I think something may have gone icky over the weekend tho in the teeth she was supposed to fix, and I'm willing to bet that's got something to do with the numb lip.

I guess I'll be calling the dentist in the morning, and hope my nose lets me breathe this week.

My allergies have been really bad the past few weeks. They're digging out two drainage ponds that we had no idea were behind our house. (they were THAT overgrown!) and they're ripping up cottonwood trees like crazy, and turning all of the trees they're tearing out into mulch. Which I think is aerosolizing whatever allergen that doesnt like me and is making my allergies nuts.

I've found that with MS it's just "flavor of the day". Any given day (or hour) I could have any number of sx or none at all. That's just the way it is with MS. But, we have to be careful not to blame everything on MS....'cos some things aren't even related to it and require their own treatment.

When I was first dx I was hyper-aware of every sx and "new" feeling I had. I was constantly researching to see if something was MS related or not...but as it turns out MS sx mimic tons of other illness sx, too.

So, I just try to take each day as it comes, sx or not. As long as I'm breathing, not in too much pain and can still eat...I'm OK! :D I do what I can to combat this disease (I take LDN) and try not to let the days that the sx rear their ugly head bother me too much. The only sx that has hung around for more than a year is the numbness in my right hand but I've gotten used to it and it honestly doesn't bother me anymore. I don't even notice it most of the time.

If you had recent dental, I'd be looking at the dentist at first point of contact for numbness in the mouth.

I hope you're feeling better soon Erin!

Agree with this. Let's see if dental issues might be causing it first.

I do get this, and it's from my MS after talking to dentist and docs. I have constant numbness on my right side that will travel to my face. If I push too, too hard - it reaches into my tongue and throat which is never fun. :(

Hope you feel better soon.

I've had upper front teeth numbness from allergies (supposedly, but that was before they realized I had MS), from sinus pressure in my cheeks. I wouldn't think lower mouth numbness could be caused by allergies though.

I've had full mouth numbness (lips, tongue, roof of my mouth, teeth, etc.), and facial numbness/tingling from the MS too. When I had the mouth numbness, it started in the roof of my mouth (I think ), and over several days expanded to the other areas.

If nothing else "new" is going on, I'd just wait it out. If it doesn't change much . . . then you have nothing to be too concerned about. If it does expand to include most of your mouth (throat, lips, etc.), then you know it's the MS. Even then, not much can be done about it . . . unless it becomes terribly difficult to contend with (swallowing, etc.).

I finally fell asleep...after going upstairs and having breakfast with my dad (he made me a bowl of Cream of Wheat, and I toasted cinnamon raisin bread and sprinkled extra cinnamon sugar on them...pretty good stuff)

My lip isnt numb any more. Neck still feels weird, but I'm not really feeling the numb sensations that I did earlier this morning.

I'm really really sore...which I'm pretty sure is spasticity this morning. (last night was COLD!)

I just get worried whenever I have numbness in places on my head, or anywhere near my neck. I have a lesion at C4 (last time they looked at least) and that's the one that scares me the most. Makes me wonder if that lesion is either getting bigger, or that it's maybe waking up after not really causing me much problems.

I go to the neuro later this week, so if that weird numbness comes back, at least I'll be able talk to him about it, and he can probably tell me if I should be worried or not.

I havent had any recent dental work, but I know I need to. Good thing I rescheduled the dentist appointment that I canceled last week. I just have to wait till next week for that now. Had wanted it to be before my neuro appointment tho...
