Car Accident?

Hello Everyone,
I am a new member and I have enjoyed reading the posts.
I have had 2 failed spinal lumbar fusions (spondylolithesis) along with numerous other back problems. I have seen every top surgeon in Indianapolis alond with Cleveland Clinic and I am on the best pain controlling medications. The screws are slowing loosening and since my fusions never took there isn't anything else they can do that hasn't already been done.
My pain level was controlled and I was managing well, that is until Thursday when a young boy pulled out in front on me and hit my car. I saw him coming and I stiffened up which made it worse and I felt something go wrong in my back.
I have an appt monday am to see if there is any more damage. Although I don't see how they can tell since it is such a mess. My level of pain is so much higher and at times unbearable and in different places. I quess my question is - should I ask for punitive damages if it shows increased nerve damage. Since after time it may get to that place anyway? I am not one for taking advantage of anyone - nor do I feel sorry for myself, but, I have to say I am scared with all these new pains. One wrong move and the screw could cause me to be bedridden and that terrifies me.
Any suggestions.
I apologize for the long posting.
Thank you and God Bless.
Jerilyn
