Winter Solstice and Total Lunar Eclipse: Tuesday night, Dec. 21
Hi,
I celebrate the first day of winter because the days start getting longer. This year, we also have a total lunar eclipse the same night. This is a rare event that has not happened since 1554. http://www.nationalpost.com/todays-p...#ixzz18MfPkeVF Pretty cool. http://wild.enature.com/blog/ Quote:

Dec.21st is my sisters birthday,on top of it being the winter solstice, and the shortest day of the year.(Here in the Northern Hemisphere)
After that day,the days will slowly become longer. I'm ready for Spring.LOL Maybe when it gets around February 2nd (Groundhogs day),the ground hog won't see it's shadow. Isn't that the way it goes for a shorter Winter? BF:hug::hug::hug: |

When they are giving the Greenwich Mean Time, sometimes they will say Zulu at the end of that time broadcast. Universal Coordinated Time is a time standard that is broadcasted from Fort Collins Colorado. At night I can hear Fort Collins broadcasting the exact time on 15,10,and 5 MHZ. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Thanks for the reminder Mari.... i will be glad to get on the other side of the solstice. going to work and coming home in the dark is weird.
unfortunately the eclipse will not be visible to me. :( ~ waves ~ |
bright clear skies tonight...looks like a full moon right now.

The sky is a little foggy. I can see the moon through the clouds, but I don't have a clear image. BF:grouphug:

I'm going back out there at 2:00 AM with my camera. BF:grouphug:

Bizi At 2:07 AM,we have 3/5ths of the moon gone. No orange,or red affects yet.
It's hazy up there, and it's not clear enough for a photo. I'm going out there again at 2:40 AM. I hope that the cloud cover is gone by that time. BF:grouphug: |
