International Stem Cell Provides Update of Its Parkinson's Disease Program

International Stem Cell Corporation (OTCQB: ISCO), a California-based biotechnology company developing novel stem cell based therapies and biomedical products today provided an update on the status of Parkinson's disease preclinical program. The program continues to progress on the plan developed with input from the FDA. To date no adverse events or pathological reactions have been observed in any of the completed preclinical pharmacology/toxicology studies. Results from these studies will form the basis of the regulatory submission requesting authorization to administer the drug in humans that ISCO expects to submit prior to the end of the year.

I've talked to Stemgenex and they could not answer or provide proof of the most basic questions I posed.

I am not sure if stem cells help Parkinson's but they may be useful to helping regenerate tissue (perhaps even in the brain) in the years ahead if the FDA doesn't slow it down too much.

Stem cells stopped trembling for this Parkinson's patient!

Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, who pioneered the Parkinson's procedure, claim to have isolated and nurtured adult stem cells from their patient's brain. Dr Michel Levesque, who led the study, said: 'This is the first case that shows a promising technique may work.'

Although the operation was carried out two years ago, details were only revealed yesterday at a meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons in Chicago.
