World Parkinson's Congress 2016

Anyone intending to attend the WPC in Portland next month? For those who are unfamiliar with the WPC its an international forum for dialogue on the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices, and caregiver initiatives related to Parkinson’s disease. It's a very patient friendly event presenting updates and breaking news on the latest research on PD. As this is a triennial international event, it will not be held again until 2019.

I'll be in Portland for the full week. Feel free to contact me if you're there.

I'll be there as well. I'm excited that my video is one of the 12 finalists for the competition and I'm giving a book talk on Wed. at 5:30 in the Convention Center Theater. The Montreal WPC was outstanding. The one in 2019 will be in Tokyo so this one is more accessible to most of us.

Please contact me if you're there or if you have any questions I may be able to answer.

I am also going to the WPC and it will be nice to meet with other people from this forum. Unfortunately, did not get a ticket for Wednesday movie competition to see Nan_Cyclist movie.

Congratulations on the video, Nan! It was great, as were all of the entries. See you in Portland.

The 12 short videos, including mine, will be shown at the opening ceremony on the 20th. The winners of the competition will be announced then. Hope you're there!

I've been thinking about my book talk at WPC and I'd like to ask for your help. I'm wondering if there are any questions you would like me to be sure to address, related to the book or to my Parkinson's experience in general. Thanks.

I've been a lurker here for the past few years...diagnosed with PD 2-1/2 years ago, and since then, trying to learn as much as I can about living with PD (while balancing work and family responsibilities with a vigorous exercise regimen).

I'm planning to attend the conference next week, and would appreciate any tips from past attendees on how to get the most of it.

For example, I hadn't noticed the book talks...and wonder what else might be of interest. (Sorry Nan, no questions yet, I plan to read your book on the flight to Portland.) Looking deeper at the web site, some of the Renewal Room sessions might be interesting.

Welcome to WPC Brett. Please introduce yourself. I found in Montreal that I missed many many things because I didn't know where or when they were or, like Renewal room, roundtable, etc. they were open to those who had signed up and I missed the boat. That said, there are so many things that are interesting and informative, even going through the posters and talking with people, you won't find yourself wondering what to do. Ask questions and be as involved as you can manage. We particularly liked the summaries at the end of the days because they managed to cover many things that we missed. Enjoy.
