Scarring/Cicatricial alopecia

Hello everybody,

I just wanted to share...

I was 17 years old when I discovered a "little" hole with no hair in my head... I started to search and ask and everybody thought it was alopecia areata and that my hair would grow back again...

6 months after that, I saw the hole was bigger... and decided to give homeopathy a try... The doctor kept saying my hair was going to grow back... After 6-9 months, nothing... and I discovered a new patch without hair...

I ran to my dermatologist and he told me my hair was never going to come back... that those patches were scars, with no more follicles... He started asking if I had burnt my head or have had an accident which I denied...

He first thought I had Lichen planopillaris, but after several studies, he concluded I simply have "scarring alopecia...."

The causes are unknown, you simply loose your hair after an inflammation of the hair follicules which sometimes hurt, but some others, you dont notice until you have lost your hair...

The treatment is topic corticosteroids if you realise (have pain) the disease is "active"...

Oh man, that hurts, specially because, Im a woman, and you know, everybody is like "why dont you have hair ?"

Oh well, Im now used to it... I keep praying for a cure, or at least, a cause (stress can be related, it can be autoimmune...) so I can know what to do and what not to do...

Anyone here has it too ???

Here is an excellent website with more info. It is a foundation and helped me understand what was really going on and "why"
