Has anyone experienced these unusual neurological symptoms?

Please let me know if you have experienced similar symptoms.

I am going to a well known and respected neurological institute, and yet I have not been able to get a diagnosis. None of the doctors have heard of these symptoms before. I am a 62 year old male and before October 2015 I was the picture of health.

The facts:

1) I took levaquin in November 2015 and developed numbness in my feet. I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. I was told that it would be temporary and things would probably clear up in a year or so.

2) Over the past several weeks I have developed strange sensations that started in my feet and continued to move up to my abdomen. The feelings involve extreme tightness in my legs, buttocks and abs. I do not feel any sharp pains, just debilitating pressure and tightness. Picture both of your legs with giant blood pressure cuffs on them at 10 times the pressure you would feel on your arm.

3) The pressure is accompanied by buzzing and vibrating.

4) Here is the kicker: It is intermittent. Whenever I change position or engage my leg muscles (from sitting to standing, from standing to walking, etc) I get an intense flare-up that immobilizes my legs and I can’t move. The pressure is in both legs (though it can shift in intensity from one leg to the other) and lasts about 60-90 seconds and then totally dissipates. After it goes away, I can walk and carry on normally as if nothing had happened.

5) It seems to be getting worse and higher in my body. I am scared that if it ever reaches my chest I am a goner. I can’t imagine this pressure surrounding my heart and lungs.

6) I passed a EMG test with flying colors and scheduled for an MRI in a couple of days. If things remain a mystery I will probably be scheduled for a spinal tap.

The doctors seem confident that I do not have Guillain-Barre syndrome. I’m thinking MS but who knows. Symptoms can be different in each person. My eyesight seems fine. Digestion is fine.

Please help. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. Thank you!
