Cognitive behavioural therapy experience?
My neuro psych thought CBT might be a good thing to try. I am worried it will be a lot of effort with not much return. I am dealing with sensory deficits which, the more I learn about my injury, appear to be related to lots of cranial nerve damage (sight, auditory, balance, taste, smell, a new lisp!!!).
I am open minded. Does anyone have any experience with this approach to tbi? Would love to read your stories! Thanks. |
I Can Relate
Right now I am doing a three step cognitive behavior therapy with my PTSD psychologist. It took me awhile to get stabilized. Now we are working on coping skills and how to act in situations and control anger. My illnesses has put a toll on my family so I need to help them understand that this was not me for past 2yrs it is a illness. No blaming on me or my family just a illness.I think it is the first step of therapies to get us ready for the impairment therapies. I think it is starting to help me in a lot of different ways.I see my T every week. I hope this is helpful and if you have any other questions for me let me know.
