pot and rsd children

my 13 year old brother suffers from rsd/crps. he is in agony most of the time. i was wondering if he where to smoke marijuna, would it help his pain. How would that effect his brain growth. He gets ketamine infusions and takes noro daily. I find that to be a lot more harmful then letting him smoke a joint or eat a brownie. I dont know how to get this through to my parents.
any suggestions, anwsers or thoughts are needed!

Honestly, whether or not marijuana is helpful for pain, if you are located in an area where it is illegal, your parents could lose custody and get into serious trouble for providing it to their child.
I am not sure that even in medically legal states it would be prescribed to someone under the age of 18?. Your parents would first need to consult your brother's physicians before using anything else in conjunction with the ketamine

In addition, there are studies that suggest that marijuana may induce schizophrenic symptoms in susceptible young people

We have an RSD forum here where you may find additional info on RSD/CRPS

hello elgin

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. You are a good sister to think so carefully about his well being. My opinion is Pot is not worth the risk for most people. Even if it helped a bit, the laws are so strict, that your folks could really get in trouble. If your were in a state that could be seen by a physician that agrees with a script for it, that would be the safest route to go. I would not want your brother removed from your home, or you for that matter, if your parents would get caught. They would be the ones to really take the brunt of it. For myself, I don't want to sit in jail needing the other medications I am on. It is not really his age that bothers me, because I know he is suffering. It is the consequences for the actions that I worry about. I do think as a society, we will eventually allow this, but we arn't there yet. Think of your brothers safety first. He needs all of his family. Take care and come back to the forum with any questions. I wish you and your family all the best. Be good to each other. Ginnie

Medical Marijuana for Children

Eljen,

You might be interested in this story from the Health & Science section of Slate magazine. The parent, in my opinion, was incredibly brave to come forward about this highly sensitive and controversial topic.

Why I Give My 9-year-old Pot

Notice that, among other things, the child had been in pain.
