How do I change background colors on websites?

This is probably the dumbest question this board has ever seen.

I'll tell you what happened.

Up until yesterday, I got nice and blue backgrounds. My home page at Verizon was multicolor, Neurotalks was a nice green background.

Alan goes and fiddles with the properties.

I had a lake full of water as my screen saver, (the thing look so darn real, I was afraid to approach the monitor, I thought he spilled water on it), then I saw it was an actual lake for a screen saver.

The fonts were bigger, desktop was outer space, and when I clicked on all my favorite places,....EVERYTHING HAD A WHITE BACKGROUND. The links at the top of this page, like USER CP, FAQ, MEMBERS LIST, CALENDER, well are bright blue. The little smileys on the right are the same colors they were.

but the backround of everything else is WHITE.

I went to properties, my theme is modified theme. My screen saver is now Windows XP my fonts are extra large ...all this is just fine.

But I want to go back to colored backgrounds on my websites.

What exactly do I have to do??

Thanks much.

I was gone today - did you get anything figured out?

If not look into the Start/Control Panel /Display
he might have changed the Theme, Desktop or Appearance so check thru all those tabs

Just to clarify is this the whole computer with color changes or just internet & websites??

If internet & websites only then the changes where made in the browser properties or options.

Only the websites have white backgrounds.

My desktop is blue with a Windows XP theme. The fonts are extra large.

I changed that back from where he had outer space and whatever else he did.

but every website (while the links and some other stuff are in color), ALL THE BACKGROUNDS ARE IN WHITE.

Oh, I just went to the bottom left (where you can select Teal Black, Curves, default, etc.

I tried selecting various options. It always reverts to Teal Black. BUT IT'S STILL A WHITE BACKGROUND.

This is very frustrating.

And Alan didn't go into Browser Options.

He told me he went to Control Panel, and selected properties.

I've tried correcting this but nothing I do changes the background of the websites.

jeez.

The quickest way for a fix - if you've not installed any new software applications since noticing the unwanted change/s - is try system restore to a date/time when the appearance was as you desired.

The caveat I should add, however, is: The "fix" is quick depending on type/version of anti-virus software also running on the hard drive. (Some versions of Norton, for instance, have to have certain features temp. disabled.)

Oh, system restore. WHAT A GREAT IDEA.

I have Verizon Security Suite, and I've used System restore before.

Be back and tell you how it goes.

You are a genius.

I have to admit, I do have that attribute, Melody: Genius suits me :D. It fits even better when I'm wearing my whirly-bird, thinking cap. Y'know the type; it has red-n-white stripes and a nifty, li'l red spinner on the top .

Bobbi:

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
I did System Restore
It was tried and true!!

Everything is fine
I'm no longer feeling sick
The System Restore
IT REALLY DID THE TRICK!!!!

What can I say?

Guess it looks like I can top my thinking cap with a gold grown.

I'm glad it worked.

When all else fails? Never hurts to consider aiming for System Restore (as long as any newly-downloaded/installed software apps. and other important files are, first, backed up).

Good job.:D

I still think you need to make a limited user account for him on your computer - someday he might really mess it up.

Right now you are using your computer in "administrative mode"
meaning anyone can make major changes, there is a guest and limited modes where others will not be able to make changes like this - only the admin account can.

here's some info on user accounts- you might want to consider this -
