"I Wish I could Tell You"

Sharing a couple of poems I wrote this week. One is about wanting to explain to other people about my chronic pain, and the other is about those people who don't understand, and how they often view the situation.
I'm sure many can relate...
:)

I Wish I could Tell You

I wish I could tell you,
About the depth of my pain,
It’s almost never-ending,
And hard to explain.

I wish I could tell you,
How broken I feel inside,
My body just hurts so much,
But it’s easy to hide.

I wish I could tell you,
I can’t function very well,
Difficult to get around,
But no one can tell.

I wish I could tell you,
But you wouldn’t understand,
That I often have to ask,
For a helping hand.

I wish I could tell you,
How I honestly feel,
But you wouldn’t believe me,
That this pain is so real…

You Don’t Look Sick

You don’t look sick,
You look just the same,
You can’t be hurting,
No reason you can blame.

You look alright,
You seem OK to me,
You can’t be in pain,
No reason I can see.

You look fine now,
You don’t look that bad,
You can’t be hurting,
No reason to be sad.

You look quite well,
You still get around,
You can’t be in pain,
No reason can be found…

Great awesome fabulous poems Jaime! I understand and relate well...I am sure others deal with the same thing everyday. mucho thanks for sharing. It sure is frustrating and very tiring attempting to explain . at some point you just say the heck with makin another understand some times their mind is to closed to even hear let alone understand. :grouphug:
hope you have a great few weeks and a season filled with LOW PAIN and warm smiles!!!! Good to see you post up.:)

Dear Jaime,

So very well put... you have a way with words! Thank you for sharing. I have MS and if I had a quarter for every time someone tells me, "You look so great. I'm glad you are feeling better! "... well, I wouldn't be rich, but I could afford to go out for some really, really nice dinners. :p

Folks do make that association don't they???? and that's okay. And also, sometimes people don't know what to say... I would rather that most of the world not share my whole story. I have close friends and family who know the truth of the matter. So as long as I have that amount of true understanding, that is all I need.

So I do a lot of nodding and politely saying "thank you" and go on.... It actually, at times, gives me a little chuckle of "if you only knew what I knew"... most days we can all stand a little chuckle, even if you have to grimace through the pain to get it.

I am sorry for what you are going through. I am happy you are using you talent of writing as an outlet. Keep sharing with others when you can. It's a way of using you pain to help others. God bless! You are in my prayers!
Take care,
~your Friend~

Well done , I liked it a lot, and the second one is also right on target too, cant tell you how many times I have heard others complain on the board threads of most of the things you wrote about in those two poems, :) you are right on the mark with those two poems

Jaime, you ought to send these to all your doctors.

I have learned to discern people in backpain, hip pain, leg pain by their walk. Other pain....can be hidden.

You did good.

I LOVE THE POEMS.. THEY DO SAY ALOT. YES I HAVE EPILEPSY AND THAT SECOND POEM IS THE ONE WHICH HITS HOME. PEOPLE SEE ME AND THINK NOTHING SHOULD BE WRONG. BOY PEOPLE DON`T UNDERSTAND, BUT YOUR POEMS SAY IT ALL.
I AM HAPPY FOR YOU THAT YOU HAVE POEMS TO WRITE AS A VENT.
