Ms hug

I know this has been talked about a million times, so I searched....but nothing came up.

I am having chest discomfort that comes and goes for the last week. It is under my left breast. Maybe like a tightness. I feel like I need to take a deep breath.

This actually started while I was taking my forth dose of Gilenya.

Yes it freaks me out being my left chest....but then it goes away, and I don't think about it again.

Years ago, I had what I think may have been the 'hug', but it was back tightness/discomfort/pain in the area of my bra strap....So, this is new to me.

sounds like the hug!

I feel like my liver flipped over, and someone is tuggin on it. It doesnt always go all the way around with me. Ativan helps greatly. it also helps with the anxiety.

If you are having chest pain, sweating, racy heart, arm, jaw, neck pain or other signs of a heart attack, please be safe and get checked out. better to be embarrassed and alive then home and really sick. Once you get the go ahead from your MD then start thinking of other ways to help yourself feel better.

Yoga really helps! stretches, deep breathing, relaxation (i find my goes crazy when I am stressed) massage around the bra line, and so forth. Some times just having an answer about what it is helps so much.

Is one of the side effects of Gilenya, heart problems? As Dej suggests, see your Doc immediately.

It could be the hug. I would talk to your dr about it and get it checked. Once they determine what is causing the pain, you can get treatment for it.

If it is the hug, there are lots of things that can be done and/or medications that you can take to help with the pain and discomfort.

Please let us know how you are doing.

May be the hug but, I would have it checked out...I called 911 2 times because I thought it was my heart. I had all kinds of tests done. All checked out good, so doc said probably the "hug". Best to be safe though.

Woke me up @ 3AM yesterday

Luckily when I went in to see my PCP to get this process started again they did an EKG & I had just gotten my labs back with good cholesterol readings. I still woke DH up & he took my blood pressure. But it is scary, hence waking up DH

I went and had a massage because I was in so much pain. She worked wonders on my ribs the areas below my collar bone. Have had a hug all day. Hope you feel better.

Hi,
When in doubt, check it out.

With the medications you were on, and are on now, I would tell the Neuro ASAP about the chest pain. Don't let them let it go. It must be checked out to be sure and have peace of mind too.

It is spasms of the muscle around the torso, or waist, some the arm or leg, but it is spasticity in it's worse form. It's called Banding, the Girdle, or the MS Hug. All names but mean the same. Some have it around the whole chest by the bra line, others only half way. Some all the time, others only some time. It varies.

Shingles acts the same too. So get checked. Good luck.
