At long last, the Operation is on.

For my good mates that have been asking about me, I just got a phone call, it was from the hospital to tell me that the surgeon has booked a theatre to do my Total Hip Replacement next Tuesday, this is the best news iv'e heard in a long time. :)

MelodyL 02-18-2007 06:22 PM

I love the way you express yourself, like "the surgeon has booked the theatre".

Believe me, here in the good old USA, we do not sound as classy!!!

Good luck,

I know MANY people with hip replacements.

They went dancing afterwards. Not right away of course but they were happy they had it done.

All the best,

Melody

Fantastic News Brian.

I'm very happy for you.

Just remember to do your exercises afterward, and enjoy the Hydrotherapy.
It's a lovely way to exercise.

Here's to pain free times, a couple of months down the track from now

finally! YAY!

Is that THIS Tuesday, in two days? Or next week's Tuesday. And how long do they expect you to be in hospital? Is there someone here who will be in touch with you to update us and tell us you're okay?

I'm so glad that finally finally this is happening for you. You've waited so long.

Well done Matey!

There appears to finally be a glimmer of hope in our healthcare system afterall.

Brian, I wish you the best of luck, I know what it's like to be crook for a long time and at the mercy of the healthcare system, so this is great news.

Just make sure they take good care of you Matey.

Thankyou all so much.
As i read through the posts my eyes all filled up and i thought, geez, what a lucky bloke i am, to know such a really nice bunch of caring people like you all are and i really mean that.

The op will be the following Tuesday [27th feb], but its all happening at once now, i just got another call and they want me in there tomorrow to get the once over by all the specialists, you know to check everything is ok for the op to go ahead.
I haven't got a laptop to stay in touch in hospital, but i will post as soon as i can, they say it can be anything between 5 - 10 days in hospital, depends on how you progress.
I will see if someone in my family will post here, to let you know whats happening.
Billye, i started to have trouble with this darn hip 28 years ago, our family doc said then that when i am about 50 i will need a hip replacement, he wasn't far wrong as i am 53 now, apparently it was purthis disease to start with, acupuncture and magnets have been a god send for a long time, but the last two years its been pretty bad, just got some oxycontin off my doc, it helps a bit.
Once again thank you, each and every one of you.
Brian :)

Adding my best wishes

Brian, wishing you a successful operation and a very speedy recovery. I do hope you can get someone in your family to let us know how you are.:Good-Luck:

My mother-in-law broke her hip 6 years ago and at the time she had a choice to just have pins and whatever to hold it together or have it replaced. She chose the pins and now is in pain and walks with a limp and very bent over but refuses to do anything, and I mean anything even up to seeing a doctor, about it. She is 87 and says she is not putting any more money into her body!

Hi Brian

Brian, you are a great bloke, the real salt of the earth as they say.You are always there to help everyone. I mean everytime I see a magnet, I think of you.

I'm sure you know,as I know, that this forum is like a family. and if we can't support each other here, than what hope is there?

Just know that everyone is cheering for you.:grouphug:
