I Have Recently Been Informed By My Dentist That I Need All Teeth Extracted Due To An Infection And Eventually Have Dental Implants. Has Anyone Had Experience With This Process?

The infection that you have, is it Periodontal disease?

If it is Perio disease, then you may have varying degrees of bone loss. It is imperative to have healthy bone and plenty of it to successfully place dental implants. It is best to have your dentist explain in detail what and where the levels of bone are at this time and what he anticipates post operatively. How does he plan on restoring new bone and will that be an additional surgery; how many implants will he place; will there be any sinus exposures to contend with and how would he address those; what appliance will you wear post operatively and for how long; and will your dentures be removable or fixed ......... and of course how much will the whole treatment plan cost??

I am familiar with doing whole mouth restorations that require removal of all existing teeth and implant placement. Depending on your particular dental situation and your health history, you may need to have the teeth removed in one visit and temporary removable dentures placed for a healing period of at least 6 months. Then during a second surgery, the implants can be placed and the temporary dentures will be adjusted to fit during that healing phase of several more months. Once the implants have integrated with the bone, new dentures are fabricated to fit the implants. Sometimes, implants can be placed at the time the teeth are removed, but this is very risky unless the bone and the patient are very healthy.

It is alot to go through, but people do surprisingly well and are happy with the end results.

Hi,

I had an implant done last year, If I had my time over I would do it again. Go ahead; having worn a denture for the six months it took to complete the treatment, I know for me implants are the only way to go.

why is it never mentioned or perhaps it has how much does something
like this cost,at least a ball park figure??? And Betty Davis is so right.ha

so far have two implants and just had a tooth removed for a third - teeth problems starting when I took ACTH for MS - had terrible Thrush and gums separated from teeth and then the infections started - to have the tooth pulled $1400ish which includes bone grafts as my jawbone is not in good shape - to have the pin placed in jawbone with healing cap - $3,000ish and then comes the actual tooth -$1450 -
