Shortness of breath (dyspnea)

Hi everyone. I am back from my trip. Very long flight, 22 hours.

Needless to say I had very bad jetlag. But I have been feeling a bit short of breath since I came back very recently. Not any worse lying down or standing up. It did come on suddenly on Monday night while I was actually sleeping, and it woke me up. I was also yawning like mad for 2 days trying to get a deep breath. No chest pain just a bit of strain from continuously trying to get a deep breath.

On my flight I wore compression stalkings, drank water and moved around as best I could. Since I have never been short of breath in past, I am a bit worried. I have appointment with my GP Monday.

I don't know if people with PN have increased chance of pulmonary emboli which is where my mind is going.ofcoausre I also have reflux and anxiety and both could cause shortness of breath too.

I don't know? I feel ok otherwise.

I did however notice that when I took 2 voltaren today for my back my shortness of breath was 60% better.

I don't know if there is a connection or not.

Anyone with any ideas?

Thank you-

Hi- very long flight but welcome home - I'd have to unconscious to fly that long! (I prefere 2 or 4 seater planes!)

On SOB - if its going, as you mentioed, which I get on and off - my docs say its due to autonomic heart issues... However, also, I've gotten SOB just from stress on the muscles in my chest - and if you were confined for that long and sitting - could have just put unnatural pressure on your chest area too.... hope you feel better soon!

Hi Karen

Thank you, good to be back home sleeping in me own bed. I am actually doing better today. I think it may have had something to do with jetlag. I have been feeling "off " all week. I called the hospital and they suggested the PE, which scared me. I haven't taken a trip like that in years, all that traveling is really hard on one's autonomic system. I did ok though. I had to go it was long over due, I had a family obligation to repay, and I figured that I am feeling better than I once did,and I better get over and see my family now that I know I am ok to travel.

Had a very busy day, and I think I'll make a cuppa tea and take a rest.

Hope you are well too.

Cheers,
Aussie:)

should be reported

to the doctor. Beta blockers can cause bronchoconstriction, and once
this starts as a side effect, it becomes risky to take them.

An embolic event is pretty dramatic...you'd really have severe issues.

Please be careful.

Thanks Mrs, D.

I am still honouring my GP appointment. I also agree it is important to discuss with my doctor. Realistically the problem has not gone away completely and I was doing some reading and there is like over 100 reasons why someone can have dyspnea. Too many for me to work out on my own.

Thanks for your concern.
Cheers,
Aussie
